Aanaya's Week 1 Learning

Aanaya has had an awesome week learning at home.

She carried out her own little science experiment and learned that plants have little vessels which carry water to all parts of it. She used green, pink and blue food colouring and found out the next morning that the colour of the white flower had changed to the colour of the water. The little vessels in the plants carried the water from the glass to the flowers.

She also made her own face mask at home. Her own creation she called it.

She helped Nana do some baking as well. Yum!

  1. Wow Aanaya, you definitely taught me lots in the post. I love that you not only did the experiment but you found out why it happened as well. I wonder where you found out this information? You are very clever to learn how to make a face mask and to do that lovely looking baking. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!

  2. Kia ora Aanaya.
What beautiful photos you have shared. I love the flower and dye experiment that you did. They look amazing and it is so interesting to see how flowers and plants take in the liquid.
You look like you are making really good use of this time learning from home.

    Hi Aanaya,
I love the photos of all the work you have been doing, it all looks fun.
I really like that you have made your doll a face mask, well done. I saw how to make them on the TV the other day.

Reading

In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.

Letter of the Week

This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?
