Duffy Theatre Show

A couple of weeks ago we were lucky enough to get to see the Duffy Theatre Show. This is always a highlight of term 1 and this year's show was definitely awesome. The students and staff were laughing throughout the whole show. This year it was about a new kind of pet called a Coggen, part chicken, part dog and part cat! A farmer has made this character from their favourite book series come to life. Duffy and Bex had to read the stories to figure out how to tame this new animal before she destroys the neighbourhood! My favourite part was when we met the Coggen for the first time and it ran around the stage and sniffed Dot and Miss Corry! I wonder what your favourite part was?

Letter of the Week

This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?

Reading

In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.
