James' work

James has been doing lots of learning work at home and here are photos of some of his work.

James' Handwriting work

James, I can see that you took the time to make sure that the size and the shape of the letters are all correct. Impressive work, James!

Awesome Maths work, James. You worked on basic facts, fractions and time. I was very impressed that you can identify what one part out of 4 and one part of 8. You can also tell half past and a quarter to. I am so proud of you, James. Great work!

James has been recording books he's read and giving a rating of each book. This is superb work, James. It looks like the books you've read so far have a 5-star rating. You must have enjoyed reading all of them. I think it won't be that long until you will fill out the whole page.

  1. My goodness James this is incredibly impressive you have done so much work. Your handwriting is beautiful and neat and I bet you did the maths super fast because I know you're a math whizz! It's great that you're looking at things like time and fractions too. My favourite thing to do at home is reading so I am glad to see you have been doing some over this time. Well done James I wonder what was your favourite thing to do?

Reading

In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.

Letter of the Week

This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?
