Kobe worked on a very special project this morning. His Great Granddad fought for Britain in World War II and Kobe got to hold the special medals of this brave soldier, his great-grandad. Kobe then made his Anzac medal as you can see on the photo on the right. He also wrote an Anzac acrostic poem. I liked the ideas Kobe had for each letter and loved reading his poem. Excellent work, Kobe! Thanks for sharing them with everyone!
Hi Kobe, you have had a fantastic day. Those medals of your Great Grandads are very special I'm sure you are feeling very proud. I love your poem and the medal you made. Well done!
I love how you are exploring your own ANZAC heritage Kobe, that is very cool! It is very special to be able to have your great grandad's medals and I love how you made your own medal to wear too! Your poem shares so much information about the war, you must have thought really carefully! Great work Kobe :-)
Thank you Mrs Abernathy and Miss Harris. Kobe utilised ideas from notes we took after watching the informative video about ANZACs on Tuesday morning to help with his poem. Kobe is also very proud of his own ANZAC medal.
Hello Kobe! Thank you for sharing these three special photos. The medals of your Great Grandad are really special cargo! How lucky you are to be able to hold these treasures. I do like the poem you wrote and the medal you made. You're a bit of an artist!
In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.
This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?
