Mahoney Girls - Do our school values Proud!

Elenah and Bellah have shown our school values and have made up some colouring packs to gift to a couple of children who live next door to them. Each pack consisted of a colouring book, colouring pencils, a special picture addressed to each child and a chocolate bar treat. What a lovely thing to do girls, you have made us all proud of this kind act.
Check out the video of them leaving them at the door.
These look amazing! I would love one of these!

They have also been working very hard with their learning today and have done some amazing writing on Mrs Abernethy's bird aviary video where they wrote what they saw and heard. Then they did some awesome Anzac Ted Art. You are very creative girls. I love how proud of your work you are. Keep up the amazing learning you are doing!

The girls finished their learning day by having fun with a science experiment. With a coke and mentos eruption. Check out their video of this.

You have worked extremely hard in your bubble today, make sure you get lots of rest!!!

  4. How kind you are! It always makes us feel good inside when we do something nice for others. I bet the children were so happy with the packs you gave them. I remember doing the coke experiment with my children when they were young. Have you tried the dancing raisins experiment? If you google it you will find it. Keep up the great work and making someone's day!

Reading

In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.

Letter of the Week

This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?
