Malaefou Junior's Home Learning!

Malaefou Junior has been having fun doing some cool work at home! He used easter eggs to skip count. I wonder if he managed to sneak some while he was doing it? Then he wrote a story about what he sees in autumn, he drew a beautiful picture and then wrote his story great job! He also did some awesome baking and insisted on making the cookies reallllly big so you don't feel guilty having lots of little ones. I like his reasoning! Finally there is a video of Malaefou learning some sign language, ka rawe!

  1. I love the work you have been doing at home Malaefou! I'm impressed you had some Easter eggs left to skip count, do you get lots? I like the idea of making BIG cookies - I might do the same next time I bake. Well done on learning NZSL. On the NZSL website there are lots of things you can learn how to sign. Keep up the great work!

Malaefou, I love your happy smiley face. It looks like you are really enjoying your home learning. The idea of skip counting with the easter eggs is a good one.
Were they your easter eggs or your families?
You did an amazing job with your story and the colourful pictures.

Reading

In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.

Letter of the Week

This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?
