Thomas's Fun Home Learning!

Thomas has been doing lots of fun learning at home. Here are some of the awesome pictures of him making pasta patterns, practising his cutting skills and separating his pom poms by colour. This is some awesome work on your fine motor skills, ka pai Thomas! Maybe you could give some of these ideas a go at home too. Not only has he done all this but he's also been doing lots of work on Sunshine Classics and Maths Buddy, wow Thomas that is so much work!

  1. Thomas I love all of the fine motor activity that you have been doing. I love your pasta threading and your pom pom sorting. I think we should use these activities in class what do you think? Maybe you could lead them and show everyone how to do them? Great job on all of your work, you sure are keeping very busy in your bubble! Well done!

Hi Thomas, I love your smile while you were sorting the pom pom colours, you looked very happy. That was fantastic cutting in and out following those curvy lines. Great concentrating, well done!

Reading

In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.

Letter of the Week

This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?
