Exploring Nature Features

This week, some children spent time having a close up look at stones, sands, volcanic rock and leaves using magnifying glasses and also magnifiers that are attached to the iPad. The children were amazed to find out what they could see through the magnifiers. Some saw holes and sparkles on the stones others tiny seashells in the sands.

  1. Kia ora, we like the pictures that you took. We like the leaves and the rocks and the sand. We like that you looked at those things. We like looking through magnifying glasses too. Nā Winter-Rose and VJ.

    1. Kia ora, Harakeke children, thank you for your comments.
Ryder, we got the volcanic rock from the Port Hills. Tonga from Te Rōpū Whakaute thought it looked like the moon.

  3. Morena,

We are from Te Mauru e Taki nei at South Hornby School.

We would also love to know where did you find the volcanic rock? Was it from New Zealand?

Theo would like to know, "why did you use magnifying glasses?"
Bailey would like to know, "how many stones did you find?"
Kaitlin asks, "Were the sparkles you found colourful?"

We look forward to hearing your answers.

  4. Kia ora, Te Mauru e Taki nei,
We found the volcanic rock at the Port Hills.
Theo, we used magnifying glasses because we can see things bigger so we can see them better.
Bailey, we have about 7 stones at the moment but we keep adding more as we find them. They all look slightly different.
Kaitlin, the sparkles were a little bit colourful. We saw silver, yellow and pink.

    Thanks for your questions.
