Weeding, Weeding, Weeding

In the last week of Term 3 we spent a lot of time weeding. We recruited lots of new helpers and have made a small dent in the huge task. If you are about in the holidays at all, feel free to pull a few weeds out - we would love some help! We finished planting the rest of the sunflowers and Lachlan chose to plant some zucchini in one of the raised beds.  We feel like we are making some progress! We are planning on planting lots of swan plants in the corner between the two fences and creating a bright and attractive area for butterflies there. We are looking forward to next term to really get growing! Planting more sunflowers around our fairy garden Planting the last of the sunflowers along the fence Marsali found lots of natural items to use to decorate the fairy garden. So creative! Soon to be zucchini....

Geometry Geniuses

If you have been into the Junior Hub lately you would have seen our fantastic learning that we are doing during Numeracy time. We are experts at Geometry!  We have been learning all about reflection, lines of symmetry, rotation and translation.  We have learned to find lines of symmetry in shapes, pictures and even in ourselves. We can rotate objects and pictures and translate them on paper and in real life. The best fun was rotating and translating ourselves though! Here are some photos of our amazing learning experiences that we have taken part in during the last few weeks of Term 3. Come and visit to see our very cool reflection artwork that we have on display around the Hub.

Growing to Learn

At the beginning of September the sun began shining for us and we started thinking about Spring and how things grow. We went on a walk to explore our school garden area and were a bit disappointed with what we found. It had great potential but had been neglected for a long time and nothing much was growing! On closer inspection we found a lavender bush that smelled lovely. Near that was a little lemon tree and a few strawberry plants growing in the garden next to it. We discovered old pots, compost bins and a trellis that looked good for growing things on. Kirsty and Kayleigh even found a little area that would make a great hut or secret garden! The whole junior hub went to view our school orchard next. We found feijoa trees, nectarine trees, apple trees and pear trees. There was also lots different kinds of currants growing. We can't wait until they all grow big enough to start fruiting! We all put our thinking hats on to imagine how we would love our g

Ronald McDonald

On Monday the Junior Hub had a special guest come in to see them, it was Ronald McDonald! He needed our help to find lost red and white striped sock. Along the way we learned some important road safety messages too. Have a look at some cool photos and videos to see how awesome it was. Mrs McAllan read the story while Ronald McDonald acted it out. We all know we have to "belt up quick" before the car can move down the street. Oh no Ronald almost fell over something because he wasn't looking where he was going! Crossings with a road patrol at school are good to cross at. Ronald began hi story, you'll never guess what he lost! Make it click! On friday we practised singing the Stop, look and listen song from Ronald McDonald!

KidsCan Pyjama Mufti Day

Today we had a mufti day to raise money for KidsCan. KidsCan do so much for our school to help make it an awesome place for all of our students. Everyone looked amazing in their pyjamas even if it got a little bit hot for our onesies and winter pyjamas! We even got an awesome visit from the children at Edukids Delamain who dressed up and donated their money to KidsCan too!

Hi, my name is Kareem

Kareem has been working so hard with Mrs Abernethy to create this amazing piece of work about where his family comes from. We were all so mega proud of both the work he did and the amazing way he presented it to the entire Junior Hub, which must have been pretty scary! Look below to see a video of his amazing performance and a slideshow of his awesome piece of writing. Well done Kareem we are so proud of you! P.S It was Pyjama day today :)
