This week we decided to try and use the sandpit for something other than building. During maths time we got out there and started writing numbers in our sandpit! We had a competition to see who could write the biggest number, that's why you can see so many 3 digit numbers in the sand. I wonder what other cool maths activities we could do in the sandpit this week?
In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.
What a good idea to use the sandpit for writing numbers. I hope you don't mind Miss Harris but I would like to get our children to do that as well - as long as it stops raining! What is the biggest number someone wrote?

What fun you are having with your learning! My maths children would like to do this activity too. We might try it next week if the weather is nice.
