Te Ara Whakatau Bubble Day 5

Another busy busy day today in the Te Ara Whakatau bubble. We were all super sad about the rain since we couldn't get outside that much :-( Hopefully the weather improves soon! Today we read, had a google meet with Mrs McAllan, made some toilet paper roll puppets, did some play based learning and great cleaning of our environment, did some graphing and singing. Whew a very busy day indeed!

  1. Good morning Te Ara Whakatau Bubble! It was so nice seeing you all yesterday. Thank you for singing the Peppa Pig song (Crystal, Sapphire and Myra) and Twinkle Twinkle (Gabriel). And thank you for introducing your sister, Harper, to me Addison! That made my day. The puppets you have made are absolutely amazing! They are colourful and full of character! I bet you all had a lot of fun creating them. Have a wonderful Wednesday everybody!

  2. Wow, you certainly pack a lot into your days at school. I found your graph results interesting, I thought the amount of adults and children walking would have been nearly the same. Did you make a prediction before you collected the data? I think your puppets look amazing and I love the colours you used. I can't wait to see what you do next!

  3. Gosh. You had a busy fun day doing lots of learning. What an excellent job you did tidying the learning space! It looks really lovely. You worked like real mathematicians, collecting the date and making a graph to present. The puppets are looking awesome. I can see you worked very hard in making them. Did you have a puppet show after making them?

  4. Has it only been five days? It seems like we have been together in our bubbles for a lot longer. I really like seeing your daily posts. My favourite has to be those cool looking puppets.

Letter of the Week

This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?

Reading

In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.
