Junior Hub Inquiry

In the Junior Hub we have been working on an inquiry topic called "Where are we going?" In this topic we have been looking at the future for Gilberthorpe school, looking at the new buildings and the playground. Take a look at the slideshow below to see our adventures.

Introducing the Ipads

We are grateful to the Free Masons for helping the Junior Hub with the purchasing of the Ipads. Over this week, we are introducing the children to these new Ipads. They will  all have their own Ipad and are learning how to log in to the different apps and how these work. In the morning as part of their morning routine they will need to get their Ipad out of the charging station and put it into their tote tray. We look forward to the very near future when these are part of our every day learning.

Whole School Assembly: Week 4 Junior Hub Hosts

This was the first whole school assembly for term 2 which we were lucky enough to be asked to host. Thank you to all the wonderful whanau who came and supported our hub. The children love being able to share their assemblies with you. The Junior Hub have been doing lots of work on feelings and how to identify these. We shared our feeling faces for Happy, Sad, Confused, Proud and Angry. We also created our own Happy and you know it song and sung it to everybody.

Be Bold and Wacky Hair Day

Last Monday we had a Be Bold and Wacky Hair Day. This was to raise funds for the REACH Child Cancer foundation. We were amazed at the effort displayed by all especially Amira and Olivia M. Great work Junior Hub!

Celebration of Learning: Term One

Thanks to all our wonderful whanau whom came to our first celebration of learning for this year.  We look forward to seeing more of your faces at the next one in week 10 of term two.  The children love and enjoy being able to share all of their work with you.

We were very lucky this week to have Mark in to make Hot Cross buns with the junior hub children. Here is the process of how to make Hot Cross Buns.
