Cummins girls and their Anzac Poppies

Charlotte and Maddison have made some big poppies to display in their window today. They will be celebrating Anzac Day on Saturday by getting up at 6am to stand at the end of their driveway to have a minutes silence with their Dad.
The Anzac Days that I am able to be at home with my Dad we would always go to the dawn service. This year girls I too will be standing at the end of my driveway.

This is a very lovely post to see and reminds me of my grandfather. That is really lovely that you will be standing out at your driveway and you have your beautiful big poppies to take with you. Ka nui te aroha.

  3. Goodness me, your poppies are huge and absolutely beautiful. You will be up early tomorrow for a very special day. I read that some people will be playing the Last Post. The Last Post is very moving, have you heard it before?

Letter of the Week

This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?

Reading

In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.
