Aroha's Home Learning on Tuesday!

Aroha continuously worked hard at home following the program on our Home Learning Site. She made a book cover, drew a delicious doughnut and a Lollipop Factory. She also worked on place value and addition problems.

I loved your book cover, Aroha, the author and the illustrator! Your doughnut looks so scrumptious and good enough to eat, but your Lollipop Factory is my favourite. I loved that you drew all the details in the factory, machines, people and the colourful lollies. It must have been great fun drawing!

  1. Wow what colourful beautiful work you have done Aroha, ka pai! I really loved your lollipop factory too. My friend works at Rainbow Confectionary the lolly factory in Oamaru and part of her job as a technician is to taste test the lollies. Maybe this is something you could do in the future.

  3. Wow Aroha, you are a clever cookie. You are a writer and illustrator. I look forward to buying your books in the future. I don't think I could work in a lolly factory it would be a disaster for me! Make sure you have a break and get out and enjoy the nice fresh sunshine.

  4. You are working super hard Aroha. I would buy your book just based on the book cover alone! Do you know the saying ' you can't judge a book by its cover?' Keep up the great work and sharing. I hope you are reading some cool books with great book covers too!

Letter of the Week

This year we are doing phonics in our homerooms. Kiwi class looks at two letters and their matching sounds every week. Weka and Pukeko classes work together on one letter of the week. Each week we have a letter of the week wall where we display all the things we can find that begin with our letter of the week. Last week our letter was H and we had some fun having Harlin Haines wearing a hat on our h wall. Too cute not to share! This week our letter is J so get your thinking caps on Weka and Pukeko classes, what words do you know that start with J?

Kiwi Class Writing

Reading

In the Junior Hub we've been using many different apps. We used book creator to make a book during reading time. Two groups were working on sounding out the words we get stuck on. Every time we come to a word we don't know we just have to get our mouths ready to say the first sound. The other group was hunting for high frequency words and this time it was the word 'the'.
